Influence of Urban Development on the Quality of Groundwater: Guidelines Design for Groundwater Protection.


The case studies chosen by three participating countries are:

1) Cordoba City, Argentina;

2) Ramallah-Al Bireh District, Palestine;

3) Saharanpur City, Uttar Pradesh State, India. 


The main research activities for 3 pilot cities were defined as follows:

• Inventory of groundwater pollution sources;

• Assessment of vulnerability of groundwater to pollution;

• Assessment of groundwater quality;

• Proposal for a groundwater pollution monitoring network; and

• Formulation of groundwater protection strategy.



From August, 2006 to April, 2007 three country research teams conducted investigation, sampling and analysis, data collection and mapping. Three country reports and one summary reports was prepared (downloadable from the Research Documents Page) 



The joint research was implemented by the following partners:
